Basel Tourism offers two free city tours for all holders of a match ticket: A guided tour on the history of Basel (available in German, English, French and Norwegian) and a guided tour specifically on the topic of women’s football and the importance of sport for society (available in German).
The Host City Basel gives its all for international major sporting events like the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025. The central location in the heart of Europe, excellent transport connections, first-class infrastructure, and extensive experience in hosting large-scale events make Basel an ideal venue. But Basel also stays on the ball as the ‘Cultural Capital of Switzerland’ and as an internationally significant innovation hub.
No other European city offers a comparable cultural density in just 37 square kilometers, with nearly forty museums – including world-famous ones like the Kunstmuseum Basel or the Fondation Beyeler. Thirteen recipients of the “Pritzker Prize”, the most internationally renowned award for architects, have built in Basel or its immediate vicinity, including Herzog & de Meuron, Renzo Piano, Frank O. Gehry, and Zaha Hadid. The multi-award-winning Theater Basel, the Stadtcasino Basel with one of the best music halls in the world, internationally renowned orchestras, and numerous festivals create a unique, inspiring atmosphere in Basel.
Basel also stays on the ball when it comes to innovations. The business and research location Basel is among the most productive and innovative in the world. World-renowned life sciences and pharmaceutical companies such as Novartis, Roche, and Lonza have their headquarters here. Together with research companies in the pharmaceutical, biotech, medtech, agritech, and ICT industries, the University of Basel, the ETH Department of Biosystems, and the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland FHNW, they form a world-leading life sciences cluster.
