For major international sporting events such as the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025, the host city of Basel does its best. Its central location in the heart of Europe, excellent transport links, first-class infrastructure and many years of experience in organising major events make Basel the ideal venue. But Basel is also always on the ball as the “Cultural capital of Switzerland” and as an internationally important innovation hub.

Easily accessible

Located in the border triangle of Switzerland, Germany and France, Basel is easily accessible from everywhere thanks to the binational EuroAirport and excellent connections to the European rail and motorway network.

Top event infrastructure

As an event location, Basel has a top event infrastructure. St. Jakob-Park, the venue for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, is the largest football stadium in Switzerland. Built by the world-famous Basel architects Herzog & de Meuron, it is one of the most beautiful stadiums in Europe.

Recurring sporting highlights

With the multifunctional St. Jakobshalle, Basel also has one of the most advanced event halls in Europe. Major international sporting events such as the Longines CHI Classics Basel show jumping tournament, the Swiss Indoors Basel tennis tournament and the Yonex Swiss Open badminton tournament are held here every year. European and World Championships and Cups are also held here – in addition to the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, the Fencing EURO 2024, the Women’s EHF EURO 2024 and the FEI World Cup Finals 2025.

With almost forty museums – including world-famous ones such as the Kunstmuseum Basel and the Fondation Beyeler – no other European city offers a comparable density of culture. Thirteen bearers of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the most prestigious international award for architects, have built in Basel or the surrounding area, including Herzog & de Meuron, Renzo Piano, Frank O. Gehry and Zaha Hadid. The multi-award-winning Basel Theatre, the Stadtcasino Basel with one of the best music halls in the world, internationally renowned orchestras and numerous festivals create a unique, inspiring atmosphere in Basel.
