The explosive live shows of IKAN HYU have become an indispensable part of the European music landscape. The way they create the power of a “full band” as a duo is as unique as the sound that emerges: free, glitchy, beautiful, profound, and unpredictable. The two frontwomen each play up to three instruments simultaneously – Hannah handles acoustic and electronic drum elements, a Kaossilator, and a synth bass, while Anisa uses a drum pad and a custom-designed electric guitar/keyboard hybrid that allows her to play guitar and bass at the same time. Additionally, they both sing alternately or together. Complemented by DIY artworks, merchandise items, lighting elements, and stage outfits (created in collaboration with Anisa’s sister Irina), IKAN HYU create an entire universe.

With as much skill in rapping as velvet in her voice, the multilinguist impresses with her “(T)Rap Soul”, a careful mix of Missy Elliott, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and Erykah Badu, on increasingly larger stages.
